Boombah Gains Industry-Wide Recognition at the SGIA Expo - International Golden Image competition compares nearly 500 entries in 53 categories

Yorkville, Il March 17th, 2015 — The 2014 Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Expo brought together leaders of the specialty imaging industry this year in Las Vegas. In addition to a successful showcase, Boombah Inc, Yorkville IL was recognized in the Association's prestigious Golden Image Competition with a 2nd place Silver Award and an honorable mention, both for piece goods with full dye sublimation.

“I am very proud of the Boombah Customization team,” said Shaunessey West, Assistant Customization Production Manager. “We always try to push ourselves to be good and do good! We topped last year’s bronze award and next year we plan on taking home the gold!!”

More than 70 companies from around the world entered the competition, submitting nearly 500 entries in 53 product categories. Conducted during the 2014 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, NV, October 22–24), this year’s event was one of the most challenging in recent history.

“The judges had a very difficult time this year, not because of the sheer volume of entries, but because of the overall quality of the work. Judges in virtually every category told me the entries were so good that choosing winners was a real challenge,” said Johnny Shell, SGIA’s Vice President of Technical Services.

Shell added that the Golden Image competition is judged on the technical accomplishments of each entry, excluding aesthetic issues from the evaluation and scoring process. Prints are judged on the level of difficulty and quality of execution.

“Winning the Silver for piece goods with full dye sublimation puts Boombah Inc among the top specialty printers in the world in terms of quality and capability. The ability to consistently print such high-quality products indicates that Boombah is an expert at controlling the many variables involved in specialty printing,” Shell said.
